New Controller, New ECU

Post by Marian » Mon Apr 08, 2019 7:08 pm

As we are all aware of, the controller as is delivered with the bikes presently, is not working as it should. Collecting experience from bakers who have received their bike, the controller shows fatal faulty and unpredictable behavior to a degree of being dangerous to drive in PAS mode.

This makes the Nireeka bike at present unusable in countries where Throttle Mode is not allowed. This is a totally unacceptable situation and needs correction asap by Nireeka. The problems are known since weeks if not months.

Nireeka management, Max, is asked to acknowledge the problem, address it and announcing a cure for this desaster.
It does not help trying to ignore this.

It affects all bakers and our health.

Hi Max,

Some weeks ago we were vividly discussing one of the main issues the bike has in its recent form.

The
- missing torque sensor,
- the faulty controller and
- the missing ECU.

To date we have not heard a word of progress on these issues at Nireeka.

Please respond. Thank you.

We ordered the compatible sample parts two weeks ago. Still waiting for Bafang to send us the parts. I really have no idea why they even don't have the samples in stock!!!

Max,

Can you provide some sort up-date on the new motor controller, torque sensor and ECU?

At least tell us your idea(s) and what direction you're aiming for. Then provide a status up-date on the prototype, how it works on your current bike (500W/350W/250W) the new features, control and ride quality.

One new feature you might want to consider is the brake cut-off switch to the motor. So when any of brake levers are pulled, there's a sensor/cable that detects this and feeds back to the new motor controller to cut-off power from the battery to motor. This would be a great safety feature have.

Hi Max,

We keep hearing that you guys are working on an ECU solution since the beginning of the year.
How come that there is little to no progress - at least nothing reported from you.
What have you found out in all these weeks?
Do you have a good working solution?
If so, please tell the backers!
And if not, please tell us too.

I don't understand that you ordered the needed sample parts just two weeks ago. Why not much earlier?
Is it a financial issue?
It cannot be Bafang only holding up a solution!

Best Regards / Marian

We have tested several torque sensors but we're still waiting for Bafang to make a final decision. Based on their promise, it would be in two weeks.

There is no Shimano brake lever with this function. There're only a few other brands that making this kind of levers which their quality is nowhere near Shimano. So there would be two option. Using a low quality brake lever with brake cut-off function or Shimano without it.

There are two different things! ECU and controller.

ECU: We have developed a new ECU, that's why it takes a while.

Controller: In order for having a torque sensor, we need a new controller. We have tested a lot of them and Bafang is one of them.

Hi Max,

We all know that ECU and controller are two different things.
You may understand that the brief answers you gave create more questions than they answer.

If you have developed a new ECU,
- What are the features of the new ECU?
- Will it cover all originally promised features?
- Is it ready for production?
- When will it be ready for shipment to the backers?

Regarding the new Controller:
- Basically the same questions.

If you want your backers to stay behind you, then - please - communicate with us, Max!

- What are the features of the new ECU?
It still would be a 2G and 4G (paid option only) version.

- Will it cover all originally promised features?
Yes.

- Is it ready for production?
No, prototyping.

- When will it be ready for shipment to the backers?
ETA is 2 months.
